Novum Organum

sive Indicia Vera de Interpretatione Naturae

Not macronized. The Latin is printed without long marks.

Bacon published the Novum Organum in 1620. It is his case for a new way of studying nature, built on careful observation and experiment. This edition gives Bacon’s Latin with Thomas Fowler’s introduction from his Oxford edition of 1878.

This second edition corrects the misprints of the first, checked word by word against Fowler’s text. The book is reset in larger type after the first printing of 1620, with its headpieces and initials, and is illustrated throughout.

Scientia et potentia humana in idem coincidunt.
