Macronized. Every long vowel in the Latin is marked.
Camilla is the second story book by Maud Reed for the beginner in Latin, a sequel to her Julia. The stories run from the Elysian fields and the huntress Camilla, who fought for Turnus, through Alcestis, Jason and the old centaur Chiron, and end with the career and death of Julius Caesar.
The Latin is simple at the start and grows by small steps, with passages of Vergil, Ovid and Horace to be read aloud by the teacher. In this edition every long vowel is marked, the vocabulary is set again from Reed’s lists, and sixteen illustrations, the four photographs of the 1926 edition and twelve paintings and prints of earlier centuries, go with the tales.
Ex omnibus virginibus, quae Diānae comitēs erant, nēmō fōrmōsior fuit, nec Deae cārior, quam Camilla.
Of all the maidens who were Diana’s companions, none was more beautiful, nor dearer to the goddess, than Camilla.
